1.
It’s two hundred years
On this Fourth of July
Since Adams and Jefferson
On this day died
You and I ought to celebrate
That instead
That we’re free, that that whole
Generation’s long dead
2.
Old Ben Franklin said to me:
When I designed my lightning tree
My neighbors liked it not one bit
They said it made God feel like
Pig vomit
For should he need to smite a church
For veering from the one true word
And that church had a lightning rod
What could he do
This most powerful god?
And these barbarous turds
Are still writing laws
3.
Our morning walk
It’s called a constitutional
And it’s limited by
What Ben Franklin and I
Agreed to in our pre-amble
We will not be able to amble
In ways that bring any harm
To the General Welfare
We can only promote it
But what is promotive
Of General Welfare?
At the least
Franklin says:
I confess
Ending war and poverty
Educating all on Earth
And cleaning up the mess
