Robert M. Smith

Robert M. Smith was a correspondent in the Washington Bureau of the New York Times. Prior to the death of the Times Washington News Editor, Robert Phelps, Phelps disclosed that Smith had given the paper information from the Acting Director of the FBI that President Nixon was involved in Watergate, as well as the names of conspirators and other significant information, and that the Times had not used it.
