The drug wars started more than a century ago when Britain and the USA were smuggling opium into China. The Chinese lost two wars trying the end the opium imports. Several of America’s greatest fortunes were started or supplemented by smuggling opium into China. The Delano, Astor, Russel, Perkins, and Forbes families made fortunes getting Chinese addicted to opium.

Jumping to the Vietnam War, we find the CIA’s Air America was smuggling opium into the US. This allowed the CIA to have millions of dollars to spend without having to ask congress for money or approval. This was followed by the wars in Central America, where the CIA brought cocaine to the US. Many horrors resulted from these operations in Central America, such as Hillary Clinton’s support of the coup in Honduras. The last president of Honduras was finally arrested and imprisoned for drug smuggling, he and Noriega probably did not want to share enough of the proceeds of drug smuggling with the CIA so they had to go.

More recently, the war in Afghanistan was an opportunity that CIA could not pass up. In 1999, under Taliban rule, Afghanistan produced almost no opium. After the US took over, Afghanistan became the world’s leading supplier of opium. Billions of dollars were then in CIA pockets with no examination of how the US allowed that to happen. This gave the CIA money to destabilize and overthrow whatever country they wanted.

I think the Chinese saw what was happening and decided to undercut the heroin trade by pushing fentanyl. Fentanyl became so much cheaper and available that the CIA decided to give up the Afghan opium trade. Look at the overdose death statistics to see how heroin deaths decreased, and fentanyl deaths increased before we left Afghanistan. Within a year after the US left Afghanistan, the country stopped producing opium/heroin.

When you understand that the CIA pays news companies to print or not print stories, you may understand why this isn’t common knowledge. When people try to reveal this information, their planes fall out of the sky (Senator Wellstone) or they commit suicide with two bullets to the head (Gary Webb). When we refer to the Deep State, we should recognize that it is the drug smuggling CIA that pulls many strings in the US and elsewhere.
