Matthew Schweitzer is a Dean’s Scholar at the University of Chicago, where he helps lead a multi-institutional project to examine the decline of Iraq’s university system and intelligentsia since 1980. Harith Hasan al-Qarawee is a political scientist whose research focuses on the state-society relations, political transitions, and identity politics in Iraq and the Middle East. He is the former Robert G. James Scholar at Risk Fellow at Harvard University’s Radcliffe Institute (2014-2015) and an incoming Fellow at Brandeis University’s Crown Center for Middle East Studies.
