In Cages
You know those plastic bottles
Of water
Hung inside the cages
Of rodents
With little steel balls in the nozzle
To lick
To quench their thirst?
Has anyone out there attached one
Of those to their bed
To drink from?
And, does it work?
As the snow
Drifts through the streetlights
They say
That it’s the law of gravity
Because, you see, they recognize
That law is mostly force
Of course
The snow falls as the laws direct
And trucks roll by and sprinkle it
With salt
As laws direct, as well
No matter the harms
Deforming us all
