They’re building arks in Brooklyn
with the rising of the waters,
the destruction of the biomes,
disappearances of insects
and amphibians,
birds, and school children,
neighborhoods and cities of engines’
unceasing pollution
that men with weapons ensure will not
be shut ever more in the face
of such thought
how many lose all faith in logic as such
and so open their Bibles
And what do they learn?
In cities on edges of garbage-
choked oceans and towns along the rivers
and streams
where sewers and streets
are all falling apart: build arks
of cypress and cedar trees,
and stock these with seeds and soil
and water
for all in the deserts of sprawl beyond
the whole ark archipelago, you know,
things won’t be so easy
