DoubleTalk Emacspeak status report
It has been a couple of weeks since I uploaded a version of the
Emacspeak driver for the DoubleTalk, and I should report my status.
In a word, it is "frustrated".
Right after I uploaded the first version that would support the
DoubleTalk PC, Joshua Lambert <montcalm@negia.net> reported several
problems with it, most significantly with the info mode. I then
discovered that my DECtalk driver (my C translation of Dr. Raman's TCL
program) had at least some of the same problems. Since then, I have
discovered a couple of clear bugs in my text queueing routine
(queue_speech), and another in the handshaking logic
(doubletalk_get_acknowledgement). Unfortunately, the queue bugs
appear never to be actually exercised, and when I fixed the latter,
the DoubleTalk driver quit entirely.
I'm still working on it. If anyone wants to help look for the bug,
let me know.
