Emacs problems

Hey everyone.

I'm trying to get Emacs and Emacspeak up and running on my system.

I've just performed a fresh install of Linux Slakware 3.2 with what I
believe is Emacs 19.31.

When I am at a command prompt and type "emacs" I receive a message about
"libxaw.so.6" can not be found or similar.

I've had a sighted person run through the installer with me to make sure
that the entire contents of disk set "e" except the X11 components were
installed. No luck; I still get this message.

Anyone have any pointers? It is hard for me to figure out what needs to be
done with out any speech access. The sighted people who are helping me are
not very techy...have a hard time figuring out what is going on....get
confused about punctuation...so on.

On a side note, I'm concerned that my Dec Express might not work during
the installation of Emacspeak. The DEC Express is on Com1, but directing
text to any of the ttys doesn't seem to generate a response from the unit.
I didn't think that the Dec Express needed anything special to be about to
speak incoming text over its serial port, but maybe the DOS TSR is a little
more than an interface layer...I don't know.

I'm hoping one of you can set me streight on this stuff.

Take care.
Bryan
