C-m in shell mode and non-functioning M-!
Hello all,
using slackware 3.2, kernel 2.0.29, emacs 19.34, emacspeak 6.0:
from an interactive shel (M-x shell), i telnet to the campus UNIX box
and the buffer is filled with C-m chars, escape sequences printed
literally. the TERM variable is set to linux outside emacs, but inside
the subshell, the TERM variable is set to dumb.
also, keys such as M-! do not provoke any action from emacs and key
presses such as M-v are read as esc v.
(by M- i mean left-ALT.)
does anybody know what can be done about these two problems?
thanks
