Re: obtaining system administration books ETC from O'reilly and asociates.

O'Reilly has a long-standing policy of making their books available in
electronic form for individuals who cannot appropriately use printed
copy. I do not know what happened to your request, but it probably went
to the Sebastopol, California offices rather than to the Cambridge,
Massachusetts offices where these special requests are handled.

Where it is anticipated that multiple requests for a book in electronic
form will be forthcoming, O'Reilly may make the book available through
Recordings for the Blind and Dyslexic (Princeton, NJ) where registered
users have access to a library of books online via WWW. Currently, some
consideration is being given to cutting custom CDs; the desire is to
provide full access without unnecessarily risking the loss of intellectual
property.

I will bring your particular request to the attention of appropriate
parties at O'Reilly's Cambridge office, and inquire about a standard
procedure and contact point for anyone with future requests. By the
way, if you need _Running Linux_ in electronic form, I will personally
follow up to make sure your needs are met.

I should note, however, that I am not an O'Reilly employee and cannot
commit them to any course of action, including distribution of _Running
Linux_, as they own the copyrights. My presentation of their desire to
accomodate is based on my former work with O'Reilly as a documentation
tools specialist, where I was called upon on a number of occasions to make
books available as text files for restricted distribution on diskette.

"Gree comes of the French word gree, good liking: and it signifies in our
law, contentment or satisfaction; as in the statute of 1 R.2, c. 15, to
to make gree to the parties is to give them contentment or satisfaction for
an offence done unto them."- Les Termes de la Ley, 1st American Ed., 1812.
