Weekend Edition
May 17 / 18, 2008 And What Is Corporate Power? When I walk to the corner and see the workers in the cafe, is it corporate power they’re all pissed off about? I want my Coffee. I want to surge with the rush of awakeness! Moving fast, then back to the rocking chair. I wave to people in a car A meeting at a church. Early Americans came here to escape the tyranny of church rules They were hep to religion as a political power. I dream of my man. Oh yeah, corporate power. The tyranny of it. “Don’t want to jeopardize my job.” The overlooked chicanery. The meeting place. Is it a circle or a pulpit? Collecting Signatures Every time I hear him say “What else can I do? I imagine he’s chastising me for spending too much time staring out at the ocean. I want to be a good citizen. I did hope Nader with the Green Party was the way to go. The Green Party is backing Cynthia McKinney. Nader supporters are taking the independent road again. How many times are these accusations repeated? Bush is President because of Ralph. Why does he have to keep repeating the same answers on TV and not having enough time to speak about the solutions, we, Nader supporters want ? Is it because our solutions are what many people want? We’re told to be satisfied with elites of the Democratic Party. Voting Republican is out of the question. Now, I have to try and collect signatures for the Nader/Gonzalez campaign. If only TINKER DOMINGUEZ can be reached at tink@cruzio.com.
I went to war against Evil My mind was not subtle enough If some years later, you find On a dust heap in back of the air-raid shelter The voices of orphans from Darfur JEAN GERARD, a 94 year old retired college English teacher with three sons, taught for a long time at a community college and in a prefectural university in Japan. She also was (and still is) a peacenik with a history of paid jobs for Sane, Women's Strike and the Freeze, and lastly, the American Friends Service Committee. Of course, she is a great grandmother. Jean never had a chance to write before so now she is writing full-time. Jean can be reached at jeangerard@sbcglobal.net.
The Sophomore Reports on David and Goliath And we’re supposed to believe Well this is the 21st century No fooling around once we decide Americans will find their President is right ROBERT DAVIES is the author of Timber. He can be reached at rjdavies3@msn.com.
