Weekend Edition
March 20 / 21, 2004

Bastante
By STEW ALBERT

Spaniards must have a different chemical
in their soul.
Arab terrorists strike at their greatest city
and they vote for peace in Iraq
oust a right -wing government.
and
Socialists rule!

Bush has lost a piece of Bush.
The Spanish rightists were his role model
they sent soldiers to Baghdad
against massive popular opinion
Bush boasted that they would be re-elected
proving something distinctly Dubya
about popular stupidity.

On election day
Spaniards looked at their government bowing to Bush
blaming Basques for the bombs
they counted 200 corpses
and threw the bums out.

Bastante Bush!
Enough already.

Stew Albert runs the Yippie Reading Room. His memoir, Who the Hell is Stew Albert?, is just out from Red Hen Press. Albert will be reading from his book on Tuesday March 23 at 7 pm at Broadway Books in Portland, Oregon. He can be reached at: stewa@aol.com

In Pursuit of Gaiety
By JD CURTIS

Cheers! Bottoms UP to the Bay area!
Where lovers are free to marry whomever
They choose under the stripes of Betsy's flag
In San Francisco courts with dockets
To propose love everlasting kisses bride to bride

In defiance of G Dub the Bushy eye-browed boy
Who won't admit he loves his Arnold toy to shoot
His guns to express his love for vigilants in KABLOOMS
Instead of hugs, wants to squish the spirits of these lovebugs
But it's ok; we know you're not gay, but it's more fun to be gay-

Better than Saddam in his cage;
Better for all couples, straight and gay
To float on sidewalks many bells round, cakes and parades,
Flower petals to Spring on you,
Cheney, bAshcroft, won't you let it be?
Let them get married! Let them have gaiety,
For Freedom's sake!

JD Curtis lives in Columbus, Ohio. She can be reached at: lunafleurs@yahoo.com
