From Emily Dickinson to Robert Johnson

I realized the other night that Emily Dickinson reminds me of Robert Johnson. I tried to figure out why and if -- and came across this poem.
Here are the similarities that strike me:
the use of different voices
the personification of hardship ("blues walking like a man")
the bumpy eccentric meter
the off-rhymes
the way emotion is made dramatic
NB that Dickinson basically lived her entire life in the house she was born in. This poem is autobiographical emotionally but bears no resemblance to the "facts." It's a tall tale, in that sense. Kinda like going to the crossroads to sell your soul.
Plus, there are some more specific resemblances. That "crumbling laugh" sounds like Johnson to me, so does having her fingers move "as cautiously as glass." And the end -- the flight, her inability not only to go home again, but to even open home's door.....
This, supposedly from around 1872, is -- to my ears -- the deep blues.
I Years had been from Home
And now before the Door
I dared not enter, lest a Face
I never saw before
Stare solid into mine
And ask my Business there --
"My Business but a Life I left
Was such remaining there?"
I leaned upon the Awe --
I lingered with Before --
The Second like an Ocean rolled
And broke against my ear --
I laughed a crumbling Laugh
That I could fear a Door
Who Consternation compassed
And never winced before.
I fitted to the Latch
My Hand, with trembling care
Lest back the awful Door should spring
And leave me in the Floor --
Then moved my Fingers off
As cautiously as Glass
And held my ears, and like a Thief
Fled gasping from the House --
