An article in the Times of Oman for 27th December 2003, entitled Civil
Registration for Omanis, expatriates,
http://www.timesofoman.com/newsdetails.asp?newsid=47604 outlines the
requirements for registering births, deaths, marriage and divorce in Oman.
A translation of Royal Decree no 66/99 which formed the Civil Status Law has
apparently now been issued. The translation was also published in the Times
of Oman at http://www.timesofoman.com/newsdetails.asp?newsid=47570&pn=local
The fourth chapter of the decree deals with marriage and divorce.
All male Omanis aged 15 and over must now apply for an identity card.
Identity cards are optional for females aged 15 and over. Expatriates must
obtain a residence card.
Regards, and best wishes for 2004
