[oman-l] computers and shipping

I have two questions concerning my move to Oman

1) I am going to buy a pc laptop.  Will it be difficult to have it serviced in 
Muscat?  If I buy an off-brand (not IBM) will it be difficult to have it 
serviced, or should I stick to IBM?

2) I need to ship some belongings, and obviously want to avoid loss or theft.  
Are there any shipping companies that you could recommmend (or companies that 
you would not recommend)?
