Dear Saleem and [OMAN]-Lians,

If we are going to make the list active as you would like it to be, there
must be a good subject or something that worths attention. I assume that
the members of this list are all from different fields and categories, it
would be interesting if each would say something related to his/her own
field. There are many topics that could be discussed. An example of that,

the Economy of the country; what will happen if we run out of oil (2015),
future and impact of trourism on people, other income resources, infalation
rates ups and downs, or simple why people write their phone numbers on the
banknotes?disadvantages; etc.
how about Politics, relationships with other country, are we in the right
track, how democratic our country is, and if there a fear from talking
about politics in Oman, etc.
Agriculture, water problems, salinity, soil degradation, environmental
issues, effect of the off -road driving in salalah during the monsoon on
the soil, plants and the general scene,...
Society: "purple dishdashas", jeans, westeranization advantages and
disadvantages, traffic accidents, education, the increasing crime rate,
security, unemployment, etc.
These are the knd of things that people could contribute too. However, one
should be realistic and senstive to others when talk about such issues, be
"politically-correct."
--------------------------------------------------
[>Why do Omanis where purple dishdashas ?]
I think that purple color is one of the beautiful colors. It sympolize
love, passion and sense of romance. Look around you for a purple flower
that has just bloomed. Why men use it?, that is totally personal choice!. I
still think it is better than Jeans and Chicago Bulls T-Shirts!.

[>And if it is email garbage,] then no body will like it. Like the >30
e-mails that wastes peoples' time, resources (in KiloBytes), and money
($$/hour). It could be no-body's fault, but yet it is junk-mail. Do you
agree with me now?.

Salam, Rashid Al-Yahyai, NY.
